Stickers are the quiet workhorse of Australian business — product labels, safety reminders, vehicle badges, shopfront hours, event handouts. And the gap between the right sticker and the wrong one is exactly one wet Sydney week. Here's how to order right.
Step 1: pick your material
Waterproof, UV-stable, outdoor-ready for years. The default for anything touching weather, hands or cleaners — vehicles, windows, bottles, tools.
Cheap and crisp for indoor life: packaging seals, jars going straight to shelves, event and promo handouts. Ruins in rain — plan accordingly.
Invisible-backing vinyl — the "printed directly on the product" look for glass, cosmetics and windows.
A laminate layer over vinyl adds scratch and UV life. Non-negotiable for vehicle use and anything handled daily.
Step 2: pick your cut
- Kiss-cut — cut through the vinyl only, sticker peels off a backing sheet. Best for sheets of small stickers, logo sheets, promo packs.
- Die-cut — cut through everything, right to your shape (your logo, a bottle outline, a beer glass). The premium look for product and merch.
- Roll labels — finished on a roll for application by hand or machine. The format for anyone labelling products in quantity.
Step 3: brief it like a pro
- Where does it live? Indoors, outdoors, on a car, in a freezer, on a shampoo bottle? This single answer decides material and laminate.
- How long? One weekend event vs multi-year branding changes the value of durability.
- What's it going on? Curved surfaces, plastic, powder-coated metal and glass all behave differently — tell us the surface.
- Shape and size — a circle logo doesn't need a square sticker; die-cut to shape and it instantly looks custom.
- Quantity — like everything in print, unit price falls fast with volume. Ask for two prices and see.
